On September 11, 2005, the church called as our Pastor, Dr. Johnny Teague – a man diverse in his life experiences, with a variety of business degrees, work experience, and even time as a college quarterback for the Tarleton State Texans and four years as a semi-professional football quarterback for the Houston Express on his resume. The refreshing and challenging admonishment of “Brother Johnny” to live each day in holiness and righteousness brought the church to a new level of spiritual vitality and excitement. His winning smile and loving heart for all people, and in particular his own life example of Godliness initiated a Holy Spirit empowered transformation of the Church that continues to unfold.
A native of Glen Rose, Texas, Johnny accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at age 12 in 1975 at Latham Springs Baptist Camp. He graduated from Glen Rose High School and then went on to Tarleton State University where he graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston. Pastor Johnny’s education continued in ministry as he completed a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. He then completed his Doctorate work with an emphasis on Expositional Preaching at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Johnny has a wonderful family with his wife, Lori and two daughters Brittany and Kate. His beautiful family is an inspiration to him in all that he does. He has three main hobbies. First, he runs a farm and ranch near his home town of Glen Rose, Texas. Second, he loves to travel, having been to all 50 states and over 14 countries. His third hobby is studying Presidential history. He has visited the homes and graves of every U. S. President and is constantly reading biographies on every U.S. President.
Johnny is most passionate about preaching God’s Word and reaching the lost for the Lord Jesus Christ. He has preached through every book in the Bible. Our church motto falls in line with his passions – “To Know Him, and To Make Him Known”. Our Church invitation on every sign, banner, or piece of literature reads: “Come Just As You Are”.
